The OXR Hub showcases innovation in research at the University of Oxford.

The Oxford X-Reality Hub participated in the 2021 Innovation and Technology Exhibition, held on 9 December at the University of Oxford. The event, organised by Mondale, brought together talent from within the university and industry leaders. The Hub was part of the Oxford team that showcased innovation in the use of technology across different sectors of the University, sharing a stand with IT Services, the Centre for Teaching and Learning, and the Cabinet Project. Despite the anxieties surrounding in-person events in the time of Covid, a sizeable crowd attended the exhibition. At the OXR stand, visitors were transported to ancient Rome to explore the Theatre of Pompey, a site destroyed after the fall of the Roman Empire and now brought to light through the use of new technologies. The model was created by Professor Matthew Nicholls and animated in VR by the OXR Hub, creating a new tool for public engagement with history and research.
