XR courses for 2023 academic year
The Oxford X-Reality Hub is commencing the new 2023 academic year with its regular series of trainings. The first course on offer is ‘AR/VR: A practical introduction to building immersive apps with Unity’. It will take place on Wednesday, 1 November 2023, from 10am to 1pm. The training will be delivered online.
Students, researchers and practitioners interested in creating their own virtual or augmented reality experience are welcome to join. This course is geared for complete beginners and no technical background is necessary.
During this course, participants will be introduced to Unity 3D, one of the most popular game engines for creating immersive experiences, computer games and mobile apps. The course will walk participants through the app development life cycle, exploring the most important building blocks of Unity. Students will learn how to import assets into a scene and interact with them using a user interface (UI) to create a physics simulation. They will then learn how to set up a Virtual Reality scene (without a VR headset). Finally, participants will be introduced to the process of distributing and publishing an app.The course will be delivered online, so anyone not in Oxford is welcome to attend.
